After so many months, I figured out this site is overdue for some news...

Thanks to ChrisKennedy and fajerstarter, the project is now the 8th most active in drupal cvs (as seen on drupal.org/cvs tonight)!

The list of implemented features has grown, as has stability.

Seeing that increased interest in Decisions, recent advances in VotingAPI and the great things in Drupal, Koumbit has decided to put developers back to active work on it, to help make Decisions an even better module for Drupal 5.0.

Tagging along Drupal 4.7

There's something in the air, and is smells a lot like a new drupal release! Getting ready for the release, the gnuvernment team has tagged the source with the DRUPAL-4-7 tag, which means that the module will appear in the official module list.

This also means that changes that will be committed to the main repository will not show up in this release. If a change must absolutely go in this release

The version 0.1 of the Drupal module should now be considered released, just in time for its presentation by Omar Bickell at the OSCMS summit. I would have tagged the tree, but Drupal's CVS is pretty restrictive and doesn't allow any tag but DRUPAL-X-Y tags. Therefore, consider the date 2006-02-07 14:45EST as the release date.

We're still working on the plan but the code is under way. So far we have only an empty shell of a module but here are some notes on the details that will be included in the first draft that we hope to have in place by the time DrupalCon takes place. Read on for more...

voting.gnuvernment.org changes its name to decisions.gnuvernment.org

Last night, the core team surrounding this initiative decided to change the name of the project from voting.gnuvernment.org to decisions.gnuvernment.org. There are two main reasons for this change. First, the word "decisions" is more reflective of the nature of the project at hand. Second, it is bilingual in that the word is spelled the same in French and in English.

Koumbit invests $1000 to launch the gnuvernment project

While we have yet to even decide on a final name for the voting.gnuvernment.org project, Koumbit.org recently decided to invest $1000 towards getting it off the ground. Clearly this is just a drop in the bucket for a project with such a wide scope, but it is a good beginning.

Discussions around the nature and functioning of such a tool continue, and the list of specifications is growing fast. The idea of this investment is to get some working code out the door and to elaborate a detailed plan for its future development. The will allow us to gain considerable practical experience with a prototype and to make this available to the community at large for feedback and assistance. This will, in turn, provide a framework upon which we can then seek funding for further development.

So we are considering changing the name of the project from voting.gnuvernment.org to vote.gnuvernment.org or decisions.gnuvernment.org. What do you think?

We got together again today. I'll admit that we didn't make a whole lot of progress... but at least our hearts are in the right place ;-)

There is still no code to speak of but at least we came up with some more prelimirary specs in narrative form...
